Surnames: Farris, Williams, David, Whidden Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GeV.2ACEB/1648 Message Board Post: The Herald Democrat Sherman, TX March 7, 2003 Mrs. Nickie Williams BONHAM -- Graveside services for Nixola Wasille "Nickie" Williams, age 81 of Bonham, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Willow Wild Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Sallie Watson and Rev. Alan Griffin will officiate. Mrs. Williams passed away early Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. Mrs. Williams was born March 16, 1921, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Richard E. Farris and Wasille David Farris. She graduated from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education and served as director of Christian Education in Quincy, Florida and Orange, Texas before being married. She married Dr. E.C. Williams, Aug. 20, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida and he preceded her in death, January 12, 1996. Mrs. Williams continued her work in Christian Education in the First Presbyterian Church in Bonham. She served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher her entire life, leading the weekly youth Bible study through 2001. She owned and operated Young Moderns in Bonham for 20 years. She was active in the community and was named Citizen of the Year. Mrs. Williams served on several school committees including site base committees. She served in every capacity of the Fannin County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and was one of the founders of the Fannin County Relay for Life, serving as co-chairman. She enjoyed helping children. The two loves of her life were her church and family. She is survived by sons, Dick Williams and wife, Jodie of Galveston and David Williams and wife, Amber of Keller; grandchildren, Coley Williams of Winston-Salem, N.C., Katie Williams of Galveston and Nicholas and Emilie Williams of Keller; niece, Alicia Whidden of Lakeland, Florida; and hundreds of friends. Pallbearers will be David Collins, Jimmie Collins, Eddie Collins, David Bilbo, Craig Buford, Glenn Taylor, Dr. Jerry Hopson and Roy Jaco. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of First Presbyterian Church including Ronny Welch, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, Debra Dollgener, Fran Jones, Cindy Baker, Sally Eskue, Drew Goodwin, Allen Sanderson, Carroll Renshaw, H.L. Compton, Sue Taylor, Carol Amlin, Caroline Todd and Charlie Avila. The family will receive friends at the residence. A reception will be held at the Williams Educational Building at First Presbyterian Church following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church.
