Married Catherine Polite b. 20 Dec. 1836 Ohio d. 21 Dec 1887 Buffalo, Wilson Co., Kansas (there is a headstone for her and Gilbert in the Fairview Cemetary, Grangeville Idaho, but I just recently found out the she did not die in Grangeville, but in Kansas. Elizabeth Nancy Mason 13 May 1900 Harpster, Idaho Co., Idaho (these were my great grandparents. Benjamin and Rolly married sisters, Pruda and Elizabeth) 11. Laura Bell Farris b. 6 Aug 1879 Kansas. d. 22 Dec 1952 Lewistion, Nezperce Co. Idaho. m. George Blakely Kendrick, Idaho. Gilbert was a farmer. He enlisted in Mason City Missouri as a Private in Company G 11th Regiment Missouri State Militia Cavalry, later Co. G 2nd Missouri State militia Volunteer Cavalry. He was given an honorable discharge at St. Louis, Mo. April 1, 1865. Places he lived: Greencastle, Mo; Pleasant Gap, Bates Co. Mo.; Naples, Scott Co. Ill.; Woodson Co, Ks; Buffalo, Wilson Co. Ks; Fredonia, Ks; Harpster, Idaho; Grangeville, Idaho, Chanute, Neosha Co. Ks; Clearwater Idaho Co., Idaho. His second marriage, after the death of Catherine Polite, was to Margaret A. Hodge in Fredonia, Kansas (near Buffalo) in 1889. Her first husband was Samuel Hodge, who was an invalid and died in Sterling, Ks Jan 28, 1884. Her maiden name was Margaret A. Reeves. She lived in Center Ridge, Ks (near Wichita) when she married Gilbert. She could not read or write. She was born abt. 1840. She may be the one buried in Fairview with Gilbert, haven't found here death record yet. If anyone is related, I would love to hear from you.
