Private family graveside services and burial of cremated remains will be Wednesday, December 3 at the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Atchison, with Rev. Dr. Raymond C. Hartjen officiating. Family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 2 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society, Atchison YMCA, or for the Atchison Hospital Hospice. Claire Fryer was born on August 5, 1939, in Ames, IA, the daughter of Holly C. and Ruth I. (Parker) Fryer. Claire attended grade school and graduated from high school in Manhattan, KS. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology from Kansas State University. Claire was a housewife and homemaker and had worked as office manager and paralegal for the J. David Farris Law Office for 18 years. Claire was married to J. David Farris on May 27, 1961, in Manhattan, KS. They moved to Atchison in 1969 from Fort Jackson, SC. Mrs. Farris was a member of the Bellevue County Club, was a past President of the Ladies Golf Association and enjoyed playing golf. She was a Past President of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Atchison YMCA Board of Directors. She enjoyed both water and snow skiing, boating, traveling, walking, running, aerobic exercise, and she especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Claire Farris is survived by her husband J. David Farris, of the home; son Mathew A. Farris, Dallas, TX; two daughters, Mrs. Sara L. and husband Dr. Phillip Moreano, Lawrence, KS, and Mrs. Rebecca L. and husband Bret Petkus, Chicago, IL; sister Gaye Badeker, Alma, KS; and four grandchildren.
