He had worked for many years at Wultizer Piano Factory in DeKalb and at the Essex Wire Co. in Sycamore. Mr. Farris was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Hamilton County to Christopher Columbus and Lena E. (Hunt) Farris. He married Matilda "Ethel" (Biggerstaff) Farris Feb. 11, 1946; she survives. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Revs. Tony Jenkins and George Tuggle will officiate. Burial will be in the veterans section of IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro, following military rites by American Legion Post 106. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Mr. Farris is survived by his wife, Ethel Farris of McLeansboro; his sons and daughters, Lena Hammond of Belleville, Sandra Enlow and husband Ed and children Samantha, Cassandra and Andrea Enlow, all of Arcola, Carolyn (Pebbs) Newman and husband Paul and children Sarah, Shiloh and Kailee Newman, all of Carmi, Becky Miller and children Grant and Jericho Miller, all of McLeansboro, Jason Hammond and children Felicity and Audrey Hammond, all of McLeansboro and J.R. Hammond of McLeansbor; and brothers and sisters Robert Farris of McLeansboro, Sally Huffstutler of Caseyville and Betty Allen of Broughton. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Farris was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Brush Harbor General Baptist Church.
