Farris Jr. Dr. Lawrence A. Farris Jr. of Ozark and formerly of Dothan, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006 at his residence in Ozark, Ala. He was 63. Graveside memorial services will be Friday, July 7, at 11 a.m. from New Home Cemetery, Highway 189, Elba, Ala., with the Rev. Billy Rich officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing. Farris was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Enterprise, Ala., and lived the early years of his life in the Basin Community in Coffee County, Ala. He was a graduate of Kinston High School. He later graduated from the University of Alabama with B.S. degree and continued his education at UAB where he received his medical degree. Farris practiced medicine in Helena, Ala., and Alabaster, Ala., for several years. He resided in Dothan, Ala., from 1995 until 2004 when he moved to Ozark, Ala. He was an avid Alabama fan. Farris is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence A. Farris Sr. and Effie Lee Meek Farris. Survivors include his son, Daniel Farris of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sara Tyler of Montgomery, Ala., Mary Etta and Don Lewis of Dothan, Ala.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
