My grandfather was David Lee FARRIS, eldest son of DeWitt FARRIS and Harriet PIPER in IL. His father, James Smith FARRIS was married 4 times but DeWitt was from the union with Francis Fannie CORMACK. George W. FARRIS (Tyrell Co., NC) was James S. FARRIS' father. Other family names in IL are BEST, SAWYER, SOAPES, and PURDY. These same names plus WILCOX, BOOTH, and TATUM are from NC, mostly around Tyrell County. Hope I have some cousins out there. alyce matthews.

Alyce, I've got 2 different Farris links to my Gillespie line. Gillespies married Farris in IL and also what I assume is a different Farris line in TX.
