Nelle Farris was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Oklahoma City. She served in the Women Marines during World War II. In 1947, she moved to Portland, where she was a secretary for the Portland Police Bureau for 30 years. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Schmidt, Beverly Basaraba and Brenda Fivecoat; sons, Bill and Bob; sisters, Ima Henry and Martha Saylors; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Remembrances to the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon and Washington.
