She was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Valley High School there and from Iowa State University. She was a past president of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are her daughter, Kelsey Hitchings of Poulsbo; her parents, Tom and Nancy Farris and Judy and Rand Thacker; siblings, Tom Farris and Lori Brink, both of Des Moines, and Eden Dicht of Ankeny, Iowa; the Farris family of Carmel, Ind., and the Thacker family of Waukee, Iowa. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Silverdale United Methodist Church, 9982 Silverdale Way NW.
