Born in Burke County on Aug. 21, 1949, he was a son of the late Jack and Berniece Crawley Farris. Jackie worked as a paramedic in various counties for 20 years, after which he became a physician's assistant. Surviving are a son and his wife, Scott and Christy Farris of Morganton; grandchildren, Jessica Burton and Michael Farris, both of Morganton; a sister, Barbara Farris of Morganton; and a brother, Walter Farris of Morganton. A memorial visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Westview Baptist Church on U.S. 64, Morganton. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
