Hi! I have been doing genealogy research on the Farris family for three years. Right now I am really stumped! That is a usual situation with genealogy, I think. Here is what I do know: Henry Farris ( my great grandfather) was born Dec. 27, 1841 In Strakholt, Germany, to Christopher Freriches and Jutter (Coobs Bauer) Freriches and came to America with his parents approx. 1850. According to Henry's obit, they settled near Petersburg, Illinois. We have traced Henry's birth back to the parish church in Germany, but we have drawn a blank as to specifically when they came to America, and we have to trace of their time in Petersburg, no trace of any siblings for Henry. Henry served in the Civil War and then in 1870 he married Emma Follick in 1870 in Saybrook, Illinois. She died and he later married Bertha Bonnen in 1875. We have found fairly complete records on this family, one of which was my grandfather Ben Farris. If anyone knows of Henry's family - siblings, etc., I would love to hear. Also, I would like to know where Christopher and Jutter are buried, etc. Thank you for any and all help! Lonna Olson
