Kirk Died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 Carrie Bell Kirk, 80, of 1607 Spruce St., Martinsville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in North Carolina on Aug. 25, 1926, to Sam Farris and Katie Mitchell Farris. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Neil Kirk. She had worked as a housekeeper at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. Surviving are two daughters, Katie Napper and Elizabeth Borden, both of Martinsville; three sons, David Walker of Martinsville, Thomas Farris of Burton, S.C. and Ray Kirk of Ringgold; a sister, Fannie Ramey of Martinsville; three brothers, Samuel Farris, James Farris and Lindsey Farris, all of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hairston Funeral Home with the Rev. Ruben Boyd officiating. Burial will be in A & H Cemetery on Second Street, Martinsville. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter at 508 Second St., Martinsville, and for one half-hour before the funeral Saturday. [Martinsville Bulletin]
