She was born in Winslow on Sept. 5, 1908, the daughter of Edmond and Georgianna Dostie. Yvonne was a member of the Silver Lake Grange, attended China Baptist Church, and was a member of the Margaret Stotsenburgh Bible study. Yvonne was the holder of the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of China. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens (especially tomatoes), her wild birds, and all children. She was predeceased by her husband, Merlon Farris; two brothers, Leo and Wolfred Dostie; three sisters, Grace and Stella Drummond, and Iola Goodrich; one grandson, Camron I. Farris; and best friends Arlene McCaslin and Arlene McKeil. Yvonne will be sadly missed by three sons, Carl Farris and his wife, Phyllis, of China, Nelson Farris and his wife, Sharon, of China, and Earl Farris and his wife, Carol, of Augusta; sister-in-law Mary LaCroix and her husband, Lucian, of Waterville; 11 grandchildren, Jacqueline Lee Farris of Caribou, Shane Farris and his wife, Julie, of Jonesport, Shannon Powell and her husband, Myron, of Caribou, John Proulx and his wife, Michelle, of Hampton, Va., Libby Furrow and her husband, Jim, of Belgrade, Lilly-Ann Bickford and her husband, Dwayne, of Belgrade, Ron Farris of Lewiston, Tim Farris and his wife, Bopah, of Scarborough, Roxann Lizzotte and her husband, Tim, of China, Lindsay Weirich and her husband, Jason, of Bangor, and Bryan Farris of China; 13 great-grandchildren, Landon Farris, Brooklyn and Braxton Powell, Shane Camron Farris, Joanna Farris, Bradley and Nathan Bickford, Terrie J. Farris, James Nelson Furrow, Dakota and Ungara Farris, and Jackson, Mazy and Lila Weirich! ; stepgranddaughters Sarah Lizzotte and Karen Harrington; and stepgreat-great-granddaughter Adalia Harrington. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at China Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Morrell officiating. Burial will follow at China Village Cemetery.
