"Doll" Farris Sr. THOMAS S. FARRIS SR. "Doll" Lake Station, IN Age 93 was born December 17, 1913 in Barren County, KY. Our dear one slipped away peacefully to be with Our Lord, Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the VNA Horton Hospice in Valparaiso. Tom served as Captain of the Gary fire Department and had a 38 year career with the Department. Tom was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Hobart, the Gary Masonic Lodge #677 F. & A.M. Tom was a true southern gentleman who loved his family and friends, and will be deeply missed by us all. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Gillum Farris, Sr. and Julia Ann (Whitlow) Farris; son, Thomas S. Farris Jr., wife, Elsie (Burkhart), three sisters: Mary Jewell Warne, Willie Joe Veluzat, Bertha Ferguson and brother, Henry Gillum Farris, Jr. Tom is survived by his grandson, Thomas S. (Ann) Farris III of Centreville, VA; granddaughter, Shelley (Douglas) Beck of Gibsonia, PA; great grandchildren: Stephanie and Daniel Beck; daughter-in-law,! Edna Farris of Auburn, AL; several nieces and nephews. Tom also left behind his devoted companion, Katherine M. Morris of Lake Station. Her family includes her son: Jeffrey (MaryBeth) Morris of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Char Cantrell of Porter, IN; grandsons: Jeff (Jennifer) and Matt Morris, both of Baton Rouge; granddaughters: Michelle (Jay) Thompson of Woodland, TX, Lori (Jay) Fields of LaPorte, IN; great grandchildren: Andrew, Chelsea, Devon, Connor, Reid and Jaden. Paw Paw was truly enchanted by the little ones and their sweet embraces. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. Rev. Alex Stone and Rev. David Smitley officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Friends may meet with the family Wednesday, February 28, from 2-8 p.m. at Geisen Funeral Home. Masonic Lodge #677 service Wednesday 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mr. Farris to th! e VNA Horton Hospice in Valparaiso.
