    1. [FARRIS] Johnson Farris, possible father of Thompson?
    2. Darlene Concerning Johnson Farris I didn't have the 1820 census record for Martin Co. Indiana. Will have to add to my notes. My notes indicate a possible tie to Dewitt County, Illinois, but I have not done any checking on him yet, concerning Thompson. These are my (current) notes for John Farris, son of James Esom Farris (and brother of Isaac Farris) >From Randall Farris and Sandra McIntire research Johnson Farris was born in 1768 in Halifax County, Virginia. He married twice. First, he married Jean (Jenny) Langford on August 17, 1787 in Lincoln County, Virginia (Kentucky). Jenny was born in 1770 in Virginia. Johnson and Jenny had nine children: Johnson Jr.; Isaac; James; William; Eunice (Nicey); Mary (Polly); Hardin; Sarah; and Malvina (or, Melvina). On April 03, 1823 Johnson married Rebecca Lefler in Martin County, Indiana. They had a daughter: Margaret Jane. Historical events of interest include: 12 Jun 1787 Tax List Lincoln Co. Johnson lived in Halifax, Pittsylvania and Botetourt Counties, VA Lincoln and Washington Counties, KY; Washington, Daviess, Orange and Martin Counties, IN. May have been in Dewitt County IL TENNESSEE GENEALOGICAL RECORDS - Whitley, p. 156 "Petition of Johnson Farris, an old soldier of the Revolution, found in the State Archives and Land Office. This petition is dated Washington Co. TN, 1826. The papers are in regard to Johnson Farris and John Donelson in the year 1779." A search for these papers has had negative results, so far. Johnson died after 1840 in Posey Co. Indiana. My comments..... From the above it looks like it was a while between Malvina (Melvina) the last child and mariage to second wife and child by her. I don't know when Jean Langford Farris died (somtime before 1823).
