Farris, my Grandfather lived in Little River Co, Town of Arkinda or Choctaw City as it was known at that time, however as I recall Greenville Farris son of Thompson Farris (or Tom Farris) was black, so I would assume it was Tom who helped him as he lived in Little River Co and is on the 1880 census. Mr Campbell came for the corn and Mr Campbell was shot by Green Farris. Green then left Hamilton Co., for what is reported "Indiana Country". On his way back to Hamilton co., IL he was shot and was cared for by someone and he died in Little River AR Although the date for George W. and Major are about 20 years later, do you know at what point Major's family came to that area.
