Author: wcr1951_1 Surnames: Poe, Farris, Tron, Pons Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.farris/2745/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The News Herald Morganton, NC May 1, 2007 Farris, Rosalie Mrs. Rosalie Poe Farris, 94, of Grace Ridge, Morganton, formally of Valdese, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Grace Ridge after a period of declining health. Mrs. Farris was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Burke County, to the late William and Margaret Junine Tron Poe. Before her illness, she was an active member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Farris was a homemaker except for a period during World War II when she became the Postmistress of the Valdese Post Office while her husband, the Postmaster, served in the armed forces. She is survived by two half brothers, Edgar A. Poe of Newland and Sterling Poe of Black Mountain; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Farris of Charlotte; a great-niece, Lara Pons of Mt. Pleasant, great-nephews, Stan Pons of Belmont, Joe Pons of Greenville, S.C.; and nephews, James Poe of Morganton and John Poe of South Port. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Farris. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in t! he Waldensian Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Cockerham officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church.
