Thanks to a researcher in Augusta Ga who was patient enough to try every possible spellling and combination of spellings, I now have the 1880 census record of my family that lists and proves what was written on a Christmas card to my parents from a great-aunt back in the 1970s. She had stated that my maternal grandmother, Carrie Inglett Smith's grandfather was Howell or Howard Farriss. Thanks to Elvin E. Farris <mefarris@bellsouth.net>, 961 Rosemont Drive Panama City, FL 32405, "Electronic," who cited the Randall Farris, Sandra McIntire, and Trudy Adams research, I now have him attached back to his parents, and several generations back. I was able to find census data on him with his parents, and then with his wife in 1870 Sparta, Hancock Co, GA. However, my great-grandmother, buried with her husband John Inglett in Magnolia Cem. in Augusta, Richmond Co, GA, was not born until 1872. I could not find the Howell Farris/Farriss/Fariss family anywhere. Below are several census records I had. Then check out the 1880 census. I just know this is the right family as it matches the 1870 census, and the daughter Laura is the right age, in the right location. But can you believe how the Census taker botched it up. The head of hh would be Howell Farris, but the last name is assumed to be Howell and first name as Fearest.
