Greensboro News and Record Greensboro, NC July 13, 1996 SANDY RIDGE - Mr. Guy Hunter Farris, 87, of Route 1, Amostown Road, Sandy Ridge, died Thursday, July 11, 1996, at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Martinsville, Va. Mr. Farris was a native of Rockingham County, was the retired owner and operator of the Farris General Store in Martinsville, Va., and was a member of the Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Martin Farris, who died in 1950, and a brother, Ralph Farris. He is survived by his wife, Kate Joyce Farris of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jessie Mae and Jack Murphy of Sandy Ridge; foster sister, Helen Amos of Sandy Ridge; and two grandsons, Greg Murphy and Chad Murphy, both of Sandy Ridge. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Ray Funeral Home in Madison, and other times at his residence.
