I have wondered about this myself. I was born in 1959, so I should have been counted in the census 4 times now. I can't say whether I was while I lived at home, but in 1980, when I lived alone, I never filled out a form or talked to a census taker. In 1990, I lived with a roommate. I remember getting a form in the mail, but it came at a particularly busy time of my life. I remember putting the form away in a drawer when it came in, expecting to fill it out later. Several months later...way past the deadline... I found the form buried under a lot of other junk in the drawer. I don't expect that either my roommate or I were ever counted for that census. I feel sorry for future generations trying to find me, but I hope they will have access to better records, maybe from the DMV or from my voter's registrations.
