Hi Sylvia, Have read and re-read your letter and I must admit I am a bit confused. Your line is also the closest I have come to my husbands Farris line. I have a good feeling about it, somewhere it probably will tie in. There were so many different spellings of Farris back then (that is what I have run across with what little time I have been looking at the Farris line) that we might run into some problems with that. In my search for our William Farris I did run across a William in the 1850 Wayne County,WV census listed as follows; Household #266 WILLIAM FARRIS 27 and MINERVA FARRIS 25 and child MARY J. FARRIS 5months. Could this be some of your Farris line? Also during some searching I seem to recall seeing a William Farris in either the 8th or 16th Virginia Calvary. Keep in mind the calvary part is just from memory, have you searched there? My search on the Farris line is very difficult because my husband knew very little on that side of his family. So really I have started from scratch. What I have is as follows. Husbands grandfather listed in; 1870 Logan Co. Census.....William Farris 25 m. Elizabeth Conley 21 their children are...........#1 Polly Farris 2 #2 John Farris 1 1880 Logan Co. Census....William Farris 35 m. Elizabeth 30 their children are...........#1 Polly 12 #2 John 11 #3 Garland 7 #4 Lousana (? spelling) #5 Ann 4 #6 Samuel 3 1900 Logan Co. Census...William Ferris (name mis-spelled on census) no wife, I think Elizabeth passed away in 1896 children listed are..........#1 Garland 25 #2 Samuel 22 #3 Hugh 16 #4 Bettie 12 Wlliam remarried after Elizabeth died to Evaline ??????. Evaline is my husbands grandmother. William and Evaline had several children together, Martha Farris the youngest was my husbands mother. She was only a year old when William passed away in 1911. So far the census has shown that William lived throughout his married life in Logan Co.WV around the Chapmanville District. I have had a contact that said William came from KY. but, that is hearsay so far. The same source said that Williams parents were David and Lurana (Pratt) Farris of Wayne Co.WV. As of now I can not verify this. I am so far a way from the areas there (Logan and Wayne Counties) that its impossible for me to do any leg work to get any info. So I have to rely on the internet, and I am still sort of new with it. Please stay in contact, maybe we can come up with something. Would you mind giving me a little more info on what you have such as births,deaths,locations and etc. That might give me more of a clue as where to look next.
