Dear all, I have put together a plan to help people (myself included!) locate the home shire of their British ancestors. Be advised: the approach will not work 100% of the time, but it will work very well in cases where the surname is particularly uncommon (e.g. Dillard, Templeton) and provide several good clues if the surname isn't Jones, Smith, Baker or something else exceedingly common.
