    1. Re: [FARRIS-L] Polly Faris
    2. Don't ever rule out someone because of a date on a tombstone. I have an Abraham Farris that had his birthdate on his stone as October 10, 1849 and an article in the local paper about him living to be almost 100 years old. But through several census records in two different counties, his birthdate should have been December 1860. This really caused me a problem at first. I have no idea why his stone is like this or if this was a common problem. I just learned to check around more before assuming that it's correct because it's written in stone. Willie is listed as living with this family, relationship not reported. Anyone know anything about this Willie? Could it be my William Oat Farris, born 1872? Maybe he is living with his grandmother? Another curious thing in the 1880 VA census: Oat Farris, 10 years old living with James Blackwell as a boarder, servant, in Washington Co. Family history has my ggrandfather William Oat born in Saltville, Washington Co in 1872 (1872 is year on his tombstone in Ring Family Cemetary). Maybe this date is wrong and he is really 10? I know I am stretching....... There is just no family in VA with Frank, Flora, Sidney and William Oat Farris (faris et.al.) in 1880.....sigh ==== FARRIS Mailing List ==== You may search the Farris-L archives on the Rootsweb web site at: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl In the surname field, type in Farris
