Frank - Thanks for your reply ... My wife and I were in Jackson County last Friday - We spent a short time in the library and also in the court house - it was just a "get familar with the territory" type of visit. We live in Murfreesboro and it was less than a 90 minute drive. We also went to Whitleyville and visited with Bobby Pharris who is the postmaster of that little community. He told me his family was from the Granville Community. It appears there were two different lines of "PHARRIS" in the county - probably both related back a bit, bit none the less, two different groups in 1850 - one from NC and one from KY .... I'm reasonably satisfied with my BIRDWELL research in Jackson County, but, this PHARRIS/FARRIS search is made harder by the fact that marriage records are almost non-existant there prior to the 1870s ... I found the marriage record of William H. Birdwell and Nellar Pharris which surprised me ... I would be most appreciative of any help ... Thank you again.
