Wanda, I am against the numerous separate name listings because being a novice in this area, the one list has helped me immensely. In fact, when I first started about a year ago, I did not know there were so many spellings nor did I know the origin of the name. Our family thought the name was Farris although someone in my grandparents generation changed it to Ferris (no one seems to know the reason for the change). Then after checking out my great grandfather who was in the civil war and reviewing all of the archival records, I found that his name on many of those documents was Faris. I believe that having the numerous spellings listed separately will decrease the opportunities for solving family histories/mysteries.
