>Hello all, >First: Wanda is there a way you could tie all post of the other lists in to >one? It seems like a good idea to have these others list, because like so >many have pointed out some may only look for one particular spellings, but >it also takes so much away from this list. I rather enjoy reading everyone's >post, and have come to think of everyone as my "computer family" . And I >would hate to see some go because there was another list specifically for >that spelling. >Crystal Farris > > Crystal and the list - - I do not know of a way to tie all these lists together. It really is bothersome that Rootsweb chose this route without consulting the listowners first. I believe if they had, they would have made their decision a bit differently, but that is all water under the bridge. I can see the merit of possibly having an active FERRIS or PHARES list as those names do not cross over quite as much as the other variations of spelling. Nevertheless, I would have preferred to have kept a single list so everyone wouldn't have to join multiple lists. It's difficult enough to keep up with the volume of one list sometimes when you also subscribe to other surname lists. One thing I have considered is making a welcome letter that would simply explain this situation to the subscriber and request that they subscribe to the Farris-L instead. What do y'all think of this idea? One problem I see with it is....many times people do not bother reading the welcome letter! Perhaps I could make it stand out somehow. Any suggestions are welcome from you folks regarding this. Wanda
