Am new to this list, but I am probably not the first to ask about the following: Ancestry of Mary(Faris)Neely, b. 17 Jan 1820 Hagerstown, MD, dau. of Wm Faris and Jane(Ross)Faris. Mary married James White Neely in 1838 in Maury Co. TN and d. in 1877-8 in Jonesboro, Union Co. IL. Mary had the following siblings: Robert L, Betsey, Mary, James Ross, Jefferson, William, John B., & David(possibly others?). According to the research of others, all of these children were b. in or near Hagerstown, MD. Have speculated that Wm Faris Sr. may have been the son or grandson of a Joseph Faris of either Frederick or Washington Cos. MD, and that Jane Ross may have been the dau. of a John Ross(who may have come from Lancaster PA to MD).
