BELL/FARIS/WATSON Searching for the following: James Collins FARIS b. ca. 1715 in Scotland/Ireland. Immigrated abt. 1740. Was in the SW Pa. area (Cumberland/Westmoreland/Fayette/Greene Co.) during the mid to late 1700's. May have lived at one time in Augusta Co., Va. James FARIS b. ca.1742 in Va./Pa., son of James Collins FARIS. James FARIS was killed by Indians, possibly while resupplying Ft. Laurens, Oh., 1778-9. Married Catherine Mary BELL (or Mary Catherine BELL) in 1769 probably in SW Pa. or Va. Lived in SW Pa. and Harrison Co., Va.(Wv). Catherine Mary (BELL) FARIS b. ca 1745, m. David Shelby of Greene Co., Pa., Little Cove area, in 1783-4, after the death of James FARIS. This family moved to New Madrid, Mo. (Spanish Territory) in 1795 where David died in 1799 and Catherine in 1802. Catherine and James FARIS were living in Harrison Co., Va. (Wv) at the time of his death. Catherine and family moved back to the Fayette/Greene Co., Pa. area after his death. John FARIS b. Jan. 10, 1770 Fayette Co.(?), Pa. son of James and Catherine (BELL) FARIS. After death of James, he was left with uncle Joseph BELL in Fayette Co. John FARIS m. Jane WATSON Dec.11, 1788. Jane Watson b. Oct. 4, 1770, d. Apr. 25, 1850, in Highland Co., OH. Her father was James WATSON was reportedly born in Glascow, Scotland and immigrated about the time of the Rev. War in which he probably served.
