I am researching Farris'/Faris' from Virginia. I have not heard that story before do you know the county? The Farris' I am research have all been in Smyth County so far. Right now I am looking for the Parents of Samuel Anderson Farris born in 1833. I know his mothers name was Mary but do not know what her maiden name was. She was the head of house hold in the 1850 census. The yougest child of this family was born in 1840. So I am assuming that the father that I have no information on died between 1840 and 1850.
