    1. [FARRIS-L] Lizzie Farris, Smyth or Washington Co VA
    2. Looking for info on Lizzie Farris, b.c. 1856 Smyth co or Washington Co, VA. She is the mother of William Oat (Otis, W.O.), Sidney, Flora and James Doffus (Frank) Farris. She lived with her son Frank in Britol TN when she died in 1941. She is buried in the Elizabeth Cemetary in Smyth Co. She had the above children by unknown (we only know that they had the same last name) Recently found cousins say that she said she last saw her father when the Union Army attacked in the last battle of Saltville, in Dec 1864. The last time she saw him was as he was waving to her and the kids as he was marched over the hill (maybe to be shot?) My question is: There is an Elisa Farris age 6 in Washington Co in 1860 who has a brother named Trigg who is 8.Rest of family: father Thomas, 25, miner; Mary 25; and Wheeler 4 or 6 (copy was bad). Since one of Lizzie's children (Sidney) named one of his sons Wheeler....is this a coincidence? or could this Elisa be our Lizzie? Our new found cousins also said that we were "black Irish" having lived in Scotland and come to Ireland during a famine and then on to America. We are famous for our dark hair and eyes. I do hope someone can help. Thanks. Debi Brimmer
