    3. I have not posted my query in quite some time,, so am repeating it now in hopes some new member can help me out. According to my grandmother, her grandfather was a Howell Farris. Others have informed me that he was of the James Esom Farris md Susannah Luellen Malcolm line. I have found him in a census with his parents and one with his wife and some of his children. However, I cannot find him in the next year, when my g-grandmother would have been listed. CENSUS: 1850 Clark Co, GA, Athens Dist., p. 21, hh#147 James Farris 44 M Factory Op. b. VA could r/w Rebecca Farris 30 F GA could r/w Nancy A. Farris 18 F GA Beverly Farris 15 M GA James Farris 13 M GA *Howell Farris 9 M GA Miles H. Farris 8 M GA Benj. B. Farris 6 M GA Doctor W. W. Farris 4 M GA CENSUS: 1870 [Powelton?] Dist., Hancock Co., Ga. p. 7 [enumerated 7 June 1870] *Farriss, Howell 30 M W Farm Laborer GA. E. 24 F W Keeping House GA Johnnie 7 M W GA Sallie 4 F W GA Benj. 3 M W GA Willie 1 M W GA. But I cannot find them anywhere in the 1880 census, which I need to prove my g-grandmother was their daughter My g-grandmother was Laura Elizabeth Farriss b. 1872, Sparta, Hancock Co.,GA and died Jan 02, 1953, Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA. She died in the State Hospital, and their idea of a death certificate was to put a date of death on it. It was worthless! However, I was able to get her medical files thru a court order, and the files contained her place of birth. It also stated that her mother was Elizabeth Farris, and that her mother had died in the same hospital. When I wrote about that, they sent the following info: A letter from the Central State Hospital, Milledgeville Ga. received June 28, 2001 gives the following information on one Elizabeth Farris: "Lunatic from Richmond Co, Ga of insanity thirteen or fourteen years. Was an inmate of this institution some ten years ago. Cause supposed to be domestic trouble. Eats ravenously. Sleeps irregularly. Not suicidal. At times dangerous and violent. Careless with fire. No hereditary tendency existing. Received 10 Oct 1891." [No further information was enclosed.] A follow up letter for more information got me the following: " I have completed the research on your recquest. It does appear the Ms. Farris was at CSH. The data base shows that she died June 27, 1914. There is no record of her being buried at CSH." Evidently, there was no death certificate issued. I found her there in the CENSUS: 1900 Scottsboro township, Baldwin Co, Ga,Ga. State Sanitarioum, GA Mil. Dist #321, Inmate Elizabeth Farris, White, age 55, born GA. That is what I have been able to find out about her and her daughter Laura Elizabeth, my gg & g-grandmothers. But......... where in all of this is the husband and father, Howell Farriss. According to his daughter's medical records, in an interview with her husband, John Inglett, he indicated that Howell Farriss was a good for nothing drunk. So much for my illustrious background. But...... they still belong to me and would like to know more about them instead of pushing them into the closet full of skeletons. Anyone having any knowledge of one Howell Farris or perhaps Howard Farris would be a big help. Other members of the family, brothers listed in the 1850 census are found in Augusta Ga. in city directories and census recoreds, so I have info. on some of them. Please contact me if you have any info. that might lead me to more info. on this line. 2. Thanks for trying, sorry I should have put her dob, which was 8/2/1896, interesting tho. I will add this info to my research and inform my brother who is doing the legwork in VA, NC. Yes, I noticed the Agnes Greer's name was misspelled too, so often that happens, makes searching so much harder, doesn't it? Thank you for helping. Mom was 88 years old and had a long, full life. She now joins her husband, Seab, her mother, father, sister, brother and many other friends and relatives in Heaven. She takes with her, my heart. Virginia was a Jacksonville native and graduated from Jackson High School where she was in many organizations including the Pepperette club and the yearbook staff. Virginia worked for Southern Bell for 20 years, retiring to marry my father and start a family. She loved her family, her church and most especially, her granddaughter, Samantha, who will miss her "Yia Yia." In addition to her granddaughter, she leaves behind her daughter, Joy "Pepper" Lindsey (Kent); sisters, Titia Katsikas & Mary Picras; sisters-in-laws, Sophie Farris & Julia Farris and many nephews & nieces. Visitation will be held 5:30-8:00 PM Friday, February 16, ! 2007 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue with a Trisagion service starting at 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Oaklawn Cemetery. In accordance with Mom's wishes, there will be no reception after the ceremony. Virginia was a wonderful loving mother and a great friend. We are comforted knowing she's happy and laughing in heaven. We would like to thank the staff of Taylor Home who took such good care of Mom. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Virginia's honor to Taylor Home, to St. John The Divine Greek Orthodox Church or the City Rescue Mission. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Goodbye Mom, I love you. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

Farris Lewis Farris (1941-2005) is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Farris and four children, Robbie, Darin, Chris and David. In addition to his biological children, he was a father figure to countless others who needed one. Our world is a better place because of him. Robert didn't love anything more than his children, except Nancy. He showed it through understanding, compassion and love. He never missed opening a door, he never missed an anniversary, he never missed an opportunity to whisk her away for a weekend at the beach . In short, he never missed an opportunity to make her happy. Robert was a special man. He was a man of honor, love, compassion and chivalry. He consistently passed these rare characteristics on to everyone around him in a world where this is not rewarded.
