    3. Thanks to a researcher in Augusta Ga who was patient enough to try every possible spellling and combination of spellings, I now have the 1880 census record of my family that lists and proves what was written on a Christmas card to my parents from a great-aunt back in the 1970s. She had stated that my maternal grandmother, Carrie Inglett Smith's grandfather was Howell or Howard Farriss. Thanks to Elvin E. Farris <mefarris@bellsouth.net>, 961 Rosemont Drive Panama City, FL 32405, "Electronic," who cited the Randall Farris, Sandra McIntire, and Trudy Adams research, I now have him attached back to his parents, and several generations back. I was able to find census data on him with his parents, and then with his wife in 1870 Sparta, Hancock Co, GA. However, my great-grandmother, buried with her husband John Inglett in Magnolia Cem. in Augusta, Richmond Co, GA, was not born until 1872. I could not find the Howell Farris/Farriss/Fariss family anywhere. Below are several census records I had. Then check out the 1880 census. I just know this is the right family as it matches the 1870 census, and the daughter Laura is the right age, in the right location. But can you believe how the Census taker botched it up. The head of hh would be Howell Farris, but the last name is assumed to be Howell and first name as Fearest. 2. Anyone researching this family? James Farris born probably Coffee Co., TN & Elizabeth Logan I think they had 3 children, Thomas Logan born about 1829 who married Rebecca Cates,, daughter of Ephraim Cates & Rebecca Lindsay, another son, name not known and daughter Aveline Farris born about 1834 who married a Cates At some point this family passed through White and Hamilton Counties because the Cates family lived there . I am interested in the origin of this line They lived in Missouri counties Carter, Oregon, Wayne & Reynolds at some point. Thomas & Rebecca had about 7 children Joseph, Ephraim, William, Thomas, Florence, James & Martha Do not see a family connection to my Farris line but one son of Thompson Farris settled in Oregon Co.,MO. 2. I still have the old kit. I am hoping the people who were interested 3 years ago will still be willing to help him. We may never get another chance. Darlene Farris Sewell ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    2. John this person will need some money help. What is the cost now? I am trying to find some females to help or rather pay for it. If we could get the result we want it would be wonderful. Darlene You know I still have the kit from 2 and one half years ago. Do you think it would still be good. Still sealed. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    3. Hi Again, Our Y-DNA test still costs $189.00 for 43 markers through DNA Heritage. It is payable when the sample is received by DNA Heritage. At that point, they will send you an invoice. It must be paid before they release your results. I wish you success in rounding up the funds. John

    1. [FARRIS] Y-DNA Study for the Surnames of FARIS/FARRIS/FERIS/FERRIS/FERRISS/PHARRIS/etc. (Over 50 Spellings Identified)

    3. Hello Darlene & Welcome Back, Yes I am still running the FARRIS/etc. Surname Y-DNA Project. We now have 19 men you have their Y-DNA results back and their results posted under the FARRIS surname at <<< www.ybase.org >>>. Several others have test kits in hand, but have not yet submitted their Y-DNA samples for analysis. In several cases, my primary contact is a woman. We would be most pleased to have more men join us. The more males with the FARRIS/etc. surname that join our project, the more problems we will solve. Out of our 19 results we have already had five unexpected connections - which is very exciting for those involved !!! Anyone interested can contact me at <<< JohnAFarris@comcast.net >>>. However, I will be unable to reply until 05 July 2007. Best wishes, John -----Original Message----- From: farris-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:farris-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of GeeMaw32@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 5:47 PM To: farris@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FARRIS] Welcome new subscriber Wanda I have been on the list before and I am searching Thompson Farris born 1809 KY parents unknown.
