    1. [FARRIS-L] BRICK WALL
    2. I am looking for a miracle and hope that some of the new members to the list can crumble my brick wall! Marion Matthew Farris, born 9/17/1872 in possibly Iowa, died 4/13/1960 in California. His first wife was Laura Ellen Beach, born 12/2/1873, in Illinois; died 6/22/1939 in California, also. Their children: Arthur White Farris, born December, 1892 in Oregon Goldie Belle Farris, born January, 1895 in Missouri Edward Ross Farris, born July 1898 in Oklahoma Ruby May Farris, born January, 1900 in Kansas(?) William Harry Farris, born March, 1902 in Oklahoma Dolly Pearl Farris, born August, 1905 in Oklahoma Mildred Opal Farris, born January, 1907 in Oklahoma Roy Farris, born 1910 in Oklahoma (died abt. 1918) Helen Farris, born 1914 in New Mexico Margaret Harris, born 1916 in New Mexico I have been unable to find parents for MMF anywhere, even from the remaining relatives. It is possible that he could be related to a Thomas Jefferson Farris, but has not been substantiated. If anyone has any information or clues, would surely appreciate. Thanks in advance, Marilyn Johnson Pasadena, CA

    1. [FARRIS-L] Re: FARRIS-D Digest V99 #62
    2. Regarding inquiries on William Faries/Farris I also have the same information that William married Agnus Cowan. This was given to me by an Aunt of my husbands, so don't know where she got it. A William J. (could be T.) Faris appears in the 1870 South Carolina Census . He is listed as 63 years of age and birth place of Ireland There is also a William Faris age 30 with a birth place of S.C. His wife is Amanda 27 with a child named Eliza J. who is 1. There is also listed a Robert M. Faris age 67 (brother of William?) born S.C., Sara J. 26 keeping house and two children Isaac C. 6 and William S. 5. Robert Miller Farris is my husband's line. He had a son named Thomas Jefferson Farris/Faris who had a son named Robert Thad Farris who was born 10 April 1861. He is my husband's great grandfather. He lived in Arkansas in the 1880s married Alice elvira Whitfield and had eleven children. They then went to Oklahoma around Roff Oklahoma where he passed away in 1940.

    1. [FARRIS-L] My Post
    2. Greetings All: I am posting again hoping to connect. My gr-grandmother, Elzirah FARRIS, b 1836, ILL., d. abt 1875-6 married Isham Marion THOMPSON 1835, ILL., d 1933, and named a son DOCTOR Franklin, born 1862, Macoupin Co., Illinois, died about 1940, Trinity Co., Texas. I dont know when or where Isham and Elzirah were married. The first place I found them is the 1855 Macoupin Co., ILL. state census. Isham and Elzirah went to Nebraska in about 1864-5, and a son, Isham Carroll, "see below" was born there and on to Carroll Co., Arkansas by about 1867 and Elzirah died 1874-76, as Isham married Martha Ann WYATT in Carroll Co., in 1877. 1860 census, Macoupin Co., IL. lists "Sarah FARRIS", age 53, b. Tennessee in house with Isham and family. Sarah is surely Elzirah's mother. Also the 1860 census says Isham and Elzirah born in Illinois with both their parents born Tennessee. Isham and Martha moved to McIntosh Co., Indian Territory, Oklahoma in 1892 and are buried in Bixby Cemetery, Bixby, Tulsa Co., OK. Isham and Elzirah's children: Sarah, b. 1855, d. 1858, Macoupin Co., IL., Cemetery records William G., b. & d. 1856, Macoupin Co., IL., Cemetery records Mary Jane, b. 1858, Married James B. I accidentally indented some of the children under #2. All of the children under #2 are children of Lucian N. Farris and Nancy Hyatt. By accidentally indenting some of the children, it made it look like they were possibly children of William A. All are actually siblings of William A. Sorry about the confusion. 2. Don Haynie
    3. Hi, all, but especially Pete and Dale, There is a Templeton-Faris marriage in my ancestry, and it would be interesting for me to know whether any members of my immediate family are closely connected to the Farrises of SC. James R. Templeton, Sr married Martha "Patsy" Faris in Pittsylvania Co., VA in the early 19th c. James' father was Martin Templeton (b. 1767), and Martha's *mother* was Juriah Faris, daughter of Jacob (d. 1815 in Pittsylvania Co.). I do not know the identity of Martha's father (a Faris?), nor am I sure of the name of Jacob's father. Hoping to hear from you, Don Haynie At 09:24 25/02/99 EST, you wrote: >Hi Pete, > I descend from Moses Templeton Farris, Moses' son. I also live >in York County, S.C. 2. Hi Dale I think I have word 98 I got second hand, Your Moses Templeton Father Moses looks like tobe a key player, they all show Moses being drowned between 1809 and 1812 in ILL.But his link to William is in question, So far I'm the only one linking Moses to William & Agnus Cowan and a single brother named Isaac. My list could be incomplete or it could be right and there's more than one William and Agnus marriage. We need someone in the York area that can unwind this confussion. Can print the imformation out then fax it ? or hand write it , if not thats okay we can just write back and forth.
