    3. My intent with this post is to end the discussion of whether someone was typing in all CAPS, etc. Hope's note yesterday regarding typing in all caps was not intended to be taken negatively. She has apologized for this to the individuals involved. All of us are new to computers and to the internet at some point. There is no "how-to" manual when we enter this cyber world. Let's all work together and when we have new folks who may not understand the lingo or cyber etiquette, simply sending them a private note (not to the list), gently explaining protocol would be helpful. There is no need for this discussion to continue on the Farris-L, so let's all get back to figuring out our elusive ancestors! 2. Thanks Lee !!!! It's pretty neat. Iv'e been checking the other web site for about 6 months and found nobody on our line, found people asking question about 3 or 4 but they were looking for someone else. In three days I've more stuff than I have for 6 months. This a new day. Thanks again Lee Pete

    3. MAry, Also I got to tell you I got FARIS and FARRIS for my husbands line so far. Also on my maiden name sure to confuse ancestors down the road but my family name so far is Engelmann the way i know it to be correct. My uncle spells it Engelman my brother spells it Englemann the judge spelled it the wrong way when he took our surname back after we were adopted so he has no choice but to follow that. Hope, Forgive me for my ignorance, but I am very new at this internet thing and E-Mail stuff. I have read several "how to" books, none mention what you are saying. Now I jump out here to "do it" and then I read messages such as yours and I wonder where patience, love, concern. and plain old good manners have gone. Those who go after Pete or anyone else because he isn't doing something to "PLEASE" them, are those who don't know the meaning of the word "Christ". Now this message is not for you, but those who went after Pete and others like him. What we need are those gracious, and kind enough to e-mail privately and really "help". 2. to hope please forgive the capital letters but my faris name has been spelled a million ways including one generation used this farriSS, FARis, Farris, FarrisS, for some reason we have discovered that our farris family thru the years changed the spelling everyway imaginable...............try to figure that one out, even i had 5 half brothers and sisters, their last name was Farris, while mine and my one brother is Farriss..............for the life of me I can not understand this And it is next to impossible to find my family history, especially since my brother and i are the only ones left. we do know that our father told us years ago that our original faris family came from Ireland, daddy was born 6-5-1898, in red river tx, his father willie rush farriSS married nettie chennault, willie was the son of Cowan and Mollie FarriS, we think all of them driffted to Texas from Missouri................so talk about a headache. good luck to everyone mary

    1. [FARRIS-L] Re: Maudie Viola Farris in Missouri
    2. My husband's grandmother was Maudie Viola Farris Alford. She lived in Wichita, Kansas from the 1940s to 1980s. After that, she lived with her daughter in Joplin, until passing away in 1988. She is buried in Wichita, Kansas. Her father was Robert Thad Farris and she was born in Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma before coming to Kansas. So she wouldn't be connected to the Missouri Farris line.
