Hello, I am researching Captain Eugene FARRIS b. 10/21/1854 in Ms. His father was Joseph FARRIS born in Ohio. Eugene married A.U,. RUTH born 1859 in Ms. They had a daughter named Ruby Emily FARRIS born i8/24/1892 in Keokuk, Iowa. This is all the info I have on this family. I would love any help. Other surnames I am researching. BAIRD, BELL, BOLIVER BREWBAKER, BROWN, CHAMPION,FANNING,FARRIS,FORT,GRAHAM,JENNING,JORDAN,KELLER,LEE,LYONS,MATLOCK,MC MAHAN,REED,REYNOLDS,SAVAGE,SECRIST,SLOSS,SUTTON,WATERS,WILSON. I f I can help any one with these names let me know. Thanks...Linda
I have always taken great pride in the people on this list in how we all work together, sharing information about our shared heritage. We have around 200 subscribers to the Farris-L and anytime you have that number of people, there are going to be disagreements in how things operate. While some people want every note posted to be strictly genealogical, others enjoy the comraderie of feeling like we are all family. It is my intent that our list remain genealogical, but I also feel it is nice to have things relaxed and not have people afraid to post for fear their note will annoy another person. A few gentle suggestions for making the list a more productive one: (1) When replying to a previous note, please clip a SMALL portion of the note that you are replying to, so that others can follow the thread. If you simply type "Where were your folks from?" in a note to the list, most of us will not recall which note you are referring to. (2) Please be sure to put an appropriate subject for your note. This is especially important for those of you who subscribe to the digest form. When you reply to a note, it's not particularly helpful for the subject of your note to be: "Re: FARRIS-D Digest V99 #80" (just an example). (3) Subscribing to the digest form is recommended if you do not wish to receive a large number of individual notes each day. It is simple to scroll down through the digest picking out the notes that you are most interested in. (4) If there are notes that are of little interest to you, or that you perceive to be trivial in nature, simply use the delete button and move on. (5) If you have complaints about any of the posts, please do not voice your complaints publicly to the entire list; rather, direct them to me and let me handle the situation privately. I hope everyone will cooperate and work together to keep this list as productive as it has been in the past. If anyone has comments regarding my post, please direct them to me personally. Thank you for taking the time to read this note.......now......back to our Farris research! I agree !! Pete
I am getting too much info (CB type language and wish to terminate
This is the personal message that was mentioned about the list & that this isn't a CB radio. The person who sent this to the list should have sent this to the person it was directed to. Because I don't understand this message & unless you sent it or you are who its being directed to, your not going to understand it. Grandmother Is? As For Hope's message, that's a different story. Its not a personal message, its informing everyone that she's got a new email list & that she is wanting everyone to know about it. Not a big deal. Let's get back to our various spelling of ancestor's. Alli
wanda thank you very much for this newsletter.......as you know i almost cancelled completely when i received 78 messages one morning..........this condensed version is 100% better........i appreciate it and feel everyone has an option, to subscribe or unsubscribe.........i find this very enlightening and hope that "you" do not have a complaint about the info we receive because it is far from being """"" a cb radio"""....this sort of complaining is totally unnecessary.........will please advise those who wish to complain to addr their concerns directly to you and not take the pleasure out of this newsletter for those of us who appreciate it?.......thnx mary
thats right........there is not a lot of personal email.........it is ridiculous to insult everyones intelligence when we are all looking for the same thing......the farris ancesters..........the ONLY time i have ever seen anyone mention something personal was last night when Hope announced her new email addr......i happen to know this person and i also know that i was very thankful to find her new addr......based on the fact that she was helping me find the rest of my family......but she was forced to change carriers......therefore to everyone else THANK YOU very much for sharing what information you have......and keep up the good work........and by the there is nothing more personal or exciting than to be on the """ verge of finding your missing link to your past..............thx mary
I have Ian Esom Farris decendant files on my web page (txt format). http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/9649/genealogy.htm One day I will finish the gedcom file, but for now it is way behind. I have been tryingto add to it, but I also do the search on the net for FARRIS, ANDERSON, STEELE, REED, CURRY, and about 50 other surnames, for my Father and Mother on the net, since they don't have net yet. I Also do some web page designing (hobby) I rarely get to my genealogy page. Best of luck on your search! This is the address for my web page. Have a page there specifically for the Farris line. Carol
Good Lord, folks, this is not a CB radio! This forum used to be a place where messages meant something to us all. Now, every time I check my mail, several person to person messages like this one flood my mailbox. Please, if you want to correspond to another member, do not address the whole group. I value Farris-L but being a member of this forum is no longer worth reading and deleting all these personal messages every time email is checked. >Hi Mary Ann....Who are your Phariss's...?..Mine is also spelled this >way...both my parents and myself are from Texas, from there dad's people came >from MO...some went to Ark...TN, and VA....jenell My Pharisses start with Samuel Faris (spelled that way by the census taker), born c. 1797 in Tennessee. His wife's name was Martha (Osborne?), and they were in Cherokee County, AL by c. 1850. Family legend has it Samuel and Martha left Alabama and went to Arizona. Their children were William, Emiline, Handsberry, Houston, John, Nancy and James Isaac (b. Feb. 1830 TN), who spelled it Phariss. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Mary Ann
Hi, I just found out that I am probably a descendant of Ian Esom FARRIS b. c 1635, m. Emily Jane CAMERON in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 20, 1661. My relation is thus: Ian>Henry>Joseph>Luella. If there is someone who can fill in the various information, I would really appreciate it. I can share what I know about Luella's descendants, as well as the SHORT family she married into back to 1613. Thanks! Christi
I personally don't see a lot of "person to person" emails on this list. Yes, the one below confused me. But instead of flooding everyone's mail box how come you didn't just contact Wanda personally to see if she could do anything. Not to mention having your email address showing so this didn't have to go to the list? Just curious Have a great weekend & good luck w/ your research Alli STAN wrote: > Good Lord, folks, this is not a CB radio! This forum used to be a place > where messages meant something to us all. He says some Lebenise came to the britian with the Romans to battle England . anyway he is getting documentation on the name coming from Lebenon ??? If you bring up Irsh surnames on the web Farris/Faris/Faries/Ferris isn't there ? Maybe I'm wrong but worth checking out Pete Subj: Re: [FARRIS-L] Re: FARRIS-D Digest V99 #80 Date: 99-03-18 09:01:31 EST From: r2g2@phoenix.net (R2 International) Reply-to: FARRIS-L@rootsweb.com To: FARRIS-L@rootsweb.com Yes, Ferris is a Syrian/Lebanese name also.
