MaryAnn, You may visit my site at: http://www.mocom.net/~2days/faris.htm This will give a genealogy report on my Faris/Farris family. We believe that William Farris had a son named Samuel, but haven't been able to find any information out about him. Also Gideon had a son named Samuel who died Aug. 1826 in Washington Co, Va. If anyone can fill in any blanks with this Farris family, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sharon Wilhite Day http://www.mocom.net/~2days Rob Hudson wrote: > Oooh! Hello Everyone, Over the Easter week-end, I learned that my grandfather's first cousin, Ruth G. Farris, who was born in June 1899 and who married Herbert S. Caldwell, lived in Danville, Virginia until recently. She died April 24, 1997. I learned her husband's name from McNew Memorabilia (published 1998), which had him listed as Hubert, rather than as Herbert. Ruth's parents were Lee (Leander) Farris, son of Julius Farris and Louise (Louisa) Colley. Leander was in the 1880 census information posted recently on the list. He was 14 at the 1880 census. In the 1965 city directory for Danville, Ruth was a nurse at Memorial Hospital. Finding Ruth was one of those Catch-22 propositions. I did not know her husband's name until the McNew Book, which was published the year after her death, and I did not know where she lived until I found her in the SS Death Index. Fortunately, I have a friend in Danville who is a genealogist. She had the city directory and is also doing some further checking for me. Meanwhile, I am hoping that someone on the list is related to Ruth and Herbert and will communicate with me. Anxiously waiting, Lillie
