    1. [FARRIS-L] I Need some Help Non geneaology related
    2. Alli
    3. Hi, First i want to apologize to everyone for this not being genealogy related, but I need some help & there's people all of this country. So here it is. I have collected a bunch of collectible plates purchased from Danbury Mint, Bradford Exchange, etc. they are only (some) about 6 +- yrs.old. I need to find someone, person or business who buys & sells them. I don't know if they're worth more than their face value (what I paid for them). There is no one any where near my area that willing to buy them unless I sell the plates to the for 6$. I have a big box full of them, all in their origianl boxes. I would love to keep them, but I need to sell some of them. Its a bad time for us. So, if anyone knows of a company or a person who I can contact to send the info. on the plates please email me. I've even tried Ebay the web site that sells things like an Auction with no luck & they charge you to sell an item. Please send responses privately to aka2@magiclink.com Again I apologize for this not being genealogy related, but this is my only avenue that won't cost me a fortune (except if I get un-you know what) Thank you Alli

    1. [FARRIS-L] James Finley Ferris
    2. I have just came across information that my great-great grandfather was James Finley Ferris (1845-1919) of Portland, Indiana. His parents were John and Jane Ferris. He had one brother Newton. His children included James Frank Ferris, Bert Ferris, Ella Ferris, Dicie Ferris Rush, and Mary Ferris Campbell. Is anyone out there a part of this line or have more info on this line? thanks

    2. Hi Wanda, We are still trying to find where William Pharis who was in Madison Co. KY in the mid to late 1700's came from. He also had a son William Pharis who married Delila Embray in Madison Co. Ky. Then everyone moved to Jackson Co. TN around 1800. Can you help? Frank Hunting

    1. Re: [FARRIS-L] Threaded Archives
    2. Wanda, I am heavily related to both the Gantt and the Farris families out of NC. Both of the families married into the Riggin(s) family, my main line. One group then went to TN, IL ,MO ,KY and another went to SC and/or GA and AL. (a third was MD in origin) Do you have any Farris/Gantt marriages. Do you have any sign of a Riggin(s), Ragen, Regains etc. in your data. Thanks, Maryellen.

    3. Hello to all.... I just added our list to those being archived by the threaded archive system that was just announced by Rootsweb. They are adding the new messages as they are posted. The older ones will be added as time permits. This threaded archive is a new system similar to the one used on the GenConnect system where you can follow threads. Don't forget all of our messages have already been archived in the searchable Rootsweb archives. In a couple of days, you should be able to follow current notes by checking out: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/FARRIS-L Hope you enjoy it! 1. [FARRIS-L] [Fwd: JACOB UPDATE 04/17/99]
    2. Alli
    3. send prayers & replies to either nrainh20@aol.com or the website. Alli From: Jacob's Update List <nrainh20@aol.com> Jacob's Update List - http://members.aol.com/nrainh20/index.html Hi everybody: Just wanted to give you the latest on Jacob. He is quickly recovering from his leg injuries, and is now acting very much like a normal 2 year-old. This means that he has mastered the art of temper tantrums, gets into everything, and we have now discovered just how much 2 siblings really do fight with each other! We are still working on the feeding issue. We are using this month to intensively re-teach him how to eat, as he has totally forgotten. Cheryl spent many hours this week with the occupational therapist and we are seeing slow progress, but at least it is progress. He has some periods where he will eat 2 ounces of yogurt without complaint, then other times where you have to force him to take just one bite. He still has not been re-taught how to chew and swallow yet, so we are stuck with yogurt or baby food. Jacob also had his most informative hearing test ever done today (because he decided to cooperate). It turns out that he has normal hearing in the low frequency sounds, but then has a dramatic drop-off in his hearing in the high frequency sounds (meaning that he is not hearing normal speech sounds like "s" and "th", etc. His hearing aids only correct this to a small degree. He is now going to get a special hearing aid that uses computerized digital technology. Instead of just amplifiying all sounds (like normal hearing aids do), the computer chip can be set to leave the low frequency sounds alone (because he is hearing them normally), and it takes the high frequency sounds and drops them an octave to a low frequency sound that he can hear. They say that his brain will hear a different sound for "s" than we do, but interpret it the same way, and when he talks, he will produce a normal "s" sound. This should help with compliance because there is less tendency for feedback, and it has no effect on sounds he is already hearing. Of interest, these are made by an engineer who decided to devote his time to hearing loss, and set up a Kibbutz in Israel just to make the hearing aids!! We still plan to recheck him for presence of neutralizing antibodies in about 2 weeks. If they are gone, then he will be on his way back to NY for another round of treatment. We will let you know how this test turns out when we know something. Thank you for your continuing prayers and support.
