Frank Farris was born 1891 in Pittsburg, KS to Jacob and Mary Grimsley BRANIN. About 1905 he was "adopted" by Samuel and Victoria Chambers FARIS. He married Amanda Sweeney HERRING in 1911 in Webb City, MO and they had two children, John and Joseph FARRIS. When Amanda died in 1917 John went to live with his Aunt Katherine Herring Wade Lambert and Joseph was adopted. John always thought Joe had been adopted by a family named BELL but Jasper County, MO records show he was "sold" for $1 by his father to a couple named WOLBERG. According to his death certificate, Frank FARRIS died in 1922 and was separated from his second wife, Mary. I am looking for information on this second wife. Can find no marriage record in any of the counties around Webb City. In 1920 John and his aunt were living in Cardin, OK and there is a Frank Ferris shown in that census nearby. But John did not recall ever seeing his father again after his mother died. Joseph resumed his FARRIS surname and married several times having at least 16 children with his wives and apparently several without benefit of marriage. He died in 1970 in Colorado Springs. Would love to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this family.
