Farris, 81, Conger Funeral services for Ivan R. Farris, age 81, of Conger will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Conger. The Rev. William Greaver will officiate. Interment will be in the Conger Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the area servicemen's organizations. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Ivan died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. Ivan Roland Farris was born Jan. 26, 1921, to Malvin Thomas and Goldie (McCalmont) Farris in Long Pine, Neb. When Ivan was seven, the family moved to South Dakota where he attended Mellette County Schools. After leaving school, Ivan moved to Freeborn County to do farm work. On Sept. 6, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mavis C. Morgan at Grace Lutheran Church in Alden. Ivan served in the United States Air Force during World War II from October 1942 to October 1945. He worked as a carpenter and owned his own trucking firm for a number of years and was employed at Streater's, retiring in the early 1980s. Ivan was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the VFW and served as Mayor of Conger for many years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and was a very skilled woodworker. Survivors include his wife, Mavis of Conger; sons: Larry and wife Pat of Waterville, Richard and wife Becky of Conger, Randy and wife Kathy of Conger, and Tim and wife Julie of Scarville, Iowa; grandchildren: Ron and wife Carol Farris of Albert Lea, Michelle and husband Troy Thompson of Albert Lea, Tammy and husband Jeff Holland of Forest City, Corey Farris and fiancee Crystal Flatness of Alden, Jason Farris of Conger, Melanie Farris and special friend Brody Page of Conger, Nick Farris and Shane Farris, both of Conger, and Josh Farris of Scarville; step grandchildren: Robert and Jessica Anderson; five great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; brothers: Alvin and his wife Marvel, and Shirley, all of South Dakota; sister: Verlis Vavra of South Dakota; and nieces and nephews. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerald Farris; grandson, Jerry Farris; sister, Onas; and a brother in infancy.

Sue is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Lakewood; two daughters, Shelly Szuch, of Purvis, MS and Dana Brett of Tacoma; her father, Frank Lewis, of Purvis, MS; five sisters, Evelyn Lewis and Barbara Lewis, both of Purvis, MS; Mary Jo Nobles, of LaBelle, FL; Vivian McClain, of Petal, MS and Linda Roberts, of Dixie, MS; and the flowers of her life, her two granddaughters, Alex and Leah. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Sallie Watson and Rev. Alan Griffin will officiate. Mrs. Williams passed away early Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. Mrs. Williams was born March 16, 1921, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Richard E. Farris and Wasille David Farris. She graduated from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education and served as director of Christian Education in Quincy, Florida and Orange, Texas before being married. She married Dr. E.C. Williams, Aug. 20, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida and he preceded her in death, January 12, 1996. Mrs. Williams continued her work in Christian Education in the First Presbyterian Church in Bonham. She served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher her entire life, leading the weekly youth Bible study through 2001. She owned and operated Young Moderns in Bonham for 20 years. She was active in the community and was named Citizen of the Year. Mrs. Williams served on several school committees including site base committees. She served in every capacity of the Fannin County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and was one of the founders of the Fannin County Relay for Life, serving as co-chairman. She enjoyed helping children. The two loves of her life were her church and family. She is survived by sons, Dick Williams and wife, Jodie of Galveston and David Williams and wife, Amber of Keller; grandchildren, Coley Williams of Winston-Salem, N.C., Katie Williams of Galveston and Nicholas and Emilie Williams of Keller; niece, Alicia Whidden of Lakeland, Florida; and hundreds of friends. Pallbearers will be David Collins, Jimmie Collins, Eddie Collins, David Bilbo, Craig Buford, Glenn Taylor, Dr. Jerry Hopson and Roy Jaco. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders of First Presbyterian Church including Ronny Welch, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, Debra Dollgener, Fran Jones, Cindy Baker, Sally Eskue, Drew Goodwin, Allen Sanderson, Carroll Renshaw, H.L. Compton, Sue Taylor, Carol Amlin, Caroline Todd and Charlie Avila. The family will receive friends at the residence. A reception will be held at the Williams Educational Building at First Presbyterian Church following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church.
