We could also leave, Farris-L web site address in files as we research. I don't know why I didn't think of that one before....Leaving name, address, phone number and email address and web site; with information could bring new connections. Carole Faries Werner :}
This is a great idea. I have another suggestion that's related. If you leave an e-mail address that's set up through your Internet service provider (ISP), that e-mail address would no longer work if you change your ISP. You never know--you could become unhappy with your ISP, or they could go out of business. If you set up a free e-mail address (through Yahoo, Excite.com, etc.) that you can access from anywhere, it will ensure that another genealogist can contact you. (Personally, I do not recommend Hotmail--you get about 40 spam e-mails a day, much of which is ugly stuff.) You have to remember to check it about once a week or so to keep it active, but it is a good way to keep a more permanent e-mail address. Jane I spoke to our Parish librarian today who is also a board member of our Historical Association. She told me all pictures that were in our parish history book were returned to the rightful owners some five or six years ago and at that point they threw away any record of who submitted the pictures. Now wouldn't you know only in Louisiana a Historical society throwing records away. Ha ha. I was told there is a pretty good picture in a pamplet at the library I plan a trip there on Thursday and will see what I find out I will let you know. Estelle

Hello Listers. Just a note . The town near where I live just held it's centenial celebration yesterday. Denham Springs had forty people that signed the original charter for the town. To my surprise I learned my great grandfather William J. Farris and his father my great great grandfather were both signers of that charter. My great grandfather William J. Farris was the first Town Marshall and he was also a Superentendant of Weights and Measures. He and his father were founding members of the Methodist Church in Denham Springs and great great grandfather Isaiah S Farris owned a store, (which I have a picture of) near the church. I was happy to learn that someone at the centenial had a picture of my great grandfather William. I am trying to find who it was so I can get a copy. This may not mean much to any one else, but I have been trying for ten years to research this family and I might add with very little success. Just had to tell you guys. Estelle
Estelle, I would sure like a copy of his picture and the store if you manage to get one. Thanks a bunch! Hi, all, Farris boards have been kind of quiet lately. Teresa Faries Bortner e-mailed me tonight with news of an upcoming Faries family reunion in Fort Mill, S.C., at which a new headstone for Alexander Faires (1740-1824) will be dedicated. (The original one is broken and pretty much unreadable.) Some of you in the Carolinas might be interested in attending this event. If so, please e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll give you a little more info. Deb

Deponent went to sleep and when she awoke this morning about 7 o'clock found him dead in the bed. Dr. Chas P.
