    1. Re: [FARRIS-L] John Farris/Winifred Hinton
    2. Crystal: Was there any documentation offered for the two names that you might be able to verify? Unless there is, it might be a good idea to enter those names into your tree in pencil. Much of the LDS records are undocumented and, at least by my experience, are frequently inaccurate. I've been sent on some real wild goose chases with info found in their databanks. Justin Sanders

    1. [FARRIS-L] John Farris/Winifred Hinton
    2. Does anyone know of these 2 individuals? I found them on LDS site today as parents to my William G. Farris but wanted to be sure they are mine before I get excited and add them to my database. If anyone has info on them please let me know. Thanks Crystal Farris

    3. Rolene Henry Farris was born ca 1825 in Indiana. He was son of Paul Farris and Martha Howard. Paul and Martha's family were in Lawrence Co. Indiana (1820 & 1830 census) and later were in Martin Co. Indiana (1840 & 1850). This family came from Knox County, Kentucky. In 1813 Paul Farris had served in 13th Regiment, Captain Ambrose Arthur's Company, Knox County, KY. Henry Farris married Sarah York October 14, 1852 in Daviess County, Indiana. He was listed in 1850 Martin Co. census and later in 1860 Lawrence Co. census. Don't know if Henry and Sarah lived in Daviess County. Might have been her home. Lawrence and Martin Counties are located just east of Daviess County. Elvin

    3. Hi, I am old enough to barely remember the answer to this question. Here is what I remember. Our President, FDR, during the depression & under his "New Deal" program started at least two programs to put people back to work while improving our country: The CCC & the WPA. The WPA worked mostly in the cities whereas the CCC worked mostly in the forests & in rural areas. The CCC built back country roads, trails, camp grounds, erosion control projects, etc. The WPA built post offices, court houses, schools, airport hangers, city parks, etc. Both of these groups did a lot of work in my home state of New Mexico & most of the results of their work are still in use today. The WPA was everywhere in the USA, but I have the impression that the CCC was more geographically limited. Also, I think the CCC only took young men into their ranks and was organized in a military style and the participants lived in remote camps called CCC Camps, whereas the WPA took in all adult ages & most of the participants lived at home. Have you Googled these terms ??? This would allow you to cross check my memory !! I hope this helps.
