    2. Wanda: I may have some information on this William Farris, but would need to drag my files out of storage first. Offhand I can say that the "M.T. Hall" who signed as a witness is most probably Major Temple Hall, youngest brother (and I believe a half-brother) of the Jenet Hall who married Alexander Faires. It was also witnessed by Arthur Garrison, whose given name I do not recollect offhand, but there were numerous marriages between the Farris, Hall and Garrison clans in that era and area. For example, Jessie Faires, s/o Jenet and Alexander, I believe married Margaret Garrison. A year or two ago Dale Cook provided myself and others with a copy of a letter written by a William Faris around 1798. The will you are speaking about could be one of his sons. Justin Sanders

    3. Wanda, I can't help you on this, but have a recommendation. If you got this from one of the transcribed WPA wills which were copied from the original, you may be able to find out much more by ordering the full probate record from the State Archives. The will should have a Box & package # and they can go the the microfilm and send you all the accountings, payments, debts, etc. I have found a lot of good information such as marriages for children, relationships for grandchildren when an adult child has died and their portion goes to that child's heirs. I try to get the word out about this, as I found a lost ancestor named in the accounting. There is even more info. in Administrations of an intestate probate. Those are not listed in the Will Books. State Archives address & phone # is SC STATE ARCHIVES: SC Department of Archives and History 8301 Parklane Rd. But as an 18-year member of the Tennessee Board of Regents Farris played an important role in the development of higher education in the state before leaving in 1996.
