My g/grandfather born early 1800's in Co. Cavan. The family had a farm at Garfiny, in Drumlane Parish. He had at least 2 sons, Michael (my grandfather) b 6/4/1848 and John b 22/3/1840. John married Ellen Baxter at Kildallen Parish Co Cavan on 22/2/1873. According to 1901 Census there was a John Farrelly living on a farm at Garfiny. He was married to a Julia. We assume that it was the same John Farrelly. There was also a son Michael b abt 1874. We could not find any record on 1911 census and assume that they left and that the farm was amalgamated with my grandfathers farm. My family were known for a time as Farley. They appeared on the 1901 census as Farley, however as Farrelly on the 1911 census. My Uncle Michael eventually inherited the farm. He was married to a Mary Anne her from Co. Cavan. Regards Kevin Farrelly
