    3. Charles is definitely a name in the family. Many of the children had it as a second name. Whether Charles was a sibling, I am unable to say. The birth dates I have are: Michael b 1839 Patrick b 1841 James b 1843 John b 1843 -1846 [not sure]. He called his first born son John Charles. I have been advised by the Cavan genealogical research people that there were other siblings, but the cost for further research was prohibitive. I also know that a cousin, Peter, came to Australia after the above. His first born was Charles. So it definitely was a name in the family. Whether it relates to yours, I can't say. Hope this helps Jill

    3. Hi Val My Michael actually drowned near Walcha mid 1860s. The rest of that side of the family remained in the Randwick / Waverley part of Sydney, where they had dairy farms. Another side of my family married into the Farrelly [Farely] family near Beechworth in 1860. I have a John WARMOLL marrying Eliza FARELY, probably around Chiltern. Any interest there? Jill

    3. My Farrelly connection is to a John & Ann Farrelly, nee Brady both b.c.1806. The following are their children all possibly born Cavan:- Michael b.c1834 Thomas b.c.1836 John b.c.1838 Patrick b.c.1842 Peter b.c.1849 Edward Francis b.c.1851 They settled in South Australia and the Christian names have continued through the family. Ann, who married John Snr, may have been closely related to Bishop John Brady, the 1st Archbishop of Perth. According to the net, Fr.John Brady was born Castleterra Cavan so it is possible that Ann came from that area. Hoping there is a connection - kind regards, Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: <nosowicz@aol.com> To: <FARRELLY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 26, 2006 5:56 PM Subject: Re: John, James, Michael Farrelly > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Farrelly, Clarke, Tierney, Cundelon > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5dV.2ACEB/63.1.1.1.2 > > Message Board Post: > > I am looking into a branch of the Farrelly's from Cavan and have James & > Michael's in these. > > Let me know how you connect to the Farrelly tree and I will see if I have > a link I can help with > > > ==== FARRELLY Mailing List ==== > This FARRELLY list is currently available for adoption! > Interested in becoming the list manager? 3. Hoping it's OK to jump in on the Farrelly discussion. I am also in Australia with Farrelly's having migrated and settled in South Australia around the 1850's. First recording of them is a marriage in 1856 - so they were here before then. I have a John & Ann Farrelly with the following children, Michael, Thomas, John Patrick, Bridget Mary, Peter & Edward Francis. The children's birthdates range from c.1834-1851. I haven't been able to find when they came to Australia or the births of any of these children in Australia. There is also a connection to a Terrence Farrelly who settled in Western Australia. Family story is that they came from Cavan but we have nothing to prove this. If anything sounds familiar, be pleased to hear from you - Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: <walhay@optushome.com.au> To: <FARRELLY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2006 11:28 AM Subject: Re: John, James, Michael Farrelly > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Farrelly > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/rw/5dV.2ACEB/63.1.1.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I'm not sure that I can help because my family came from County Meath in > Ireland and never went to Liverpool. > They came to Australia in the 1850's and lived in and around Beechworth in > Victoria. > If this rings any bells please let me know. > Val > > > ==== FARRELLY Mailing List ==== > This FARRELLY list is currently available for adoption! > Interested in becoming the list manager? 3. Hi Jill, How do you get hold of Irish Census records or Catholic records? Did your Farrelly's come to Australia? I hope there is a connection here somehow as none of us in SA have found anything yet. I lost my WA records but there was a Margaret involved there and she was on her own, I believe she was born around c.1800, just before from memory. The names are certainly similar in all these families and my first 2 generation in Aust. continued them on.
