    2. I think you should look to Co Cavan. My gggrandfather was Simon Farrelly from Crossbane, Mullagh parish, Co Cavan. He was born around 1829 in Crossbane and his father was Conor Farrelly. Records show that Conor's father was Patrick, his mother Mary, and he had siblings Michael, Rose, Mary, Ann, Ellen, and Bridget. The 1821 census for Mullagh lists a Nicholas Farrelly, wife Elinor, and son Laurence, age 1. This information came from correspondence between Sheila Farley Comerford and Concepta McGovern of the Cavan Geneaological Research Centre. Sheila's gggrandfather was Edward Farrelly and he lived next door to my Simon in Manhattan in 1885. Did your Nicholas live in NYC?

    1. Re: Terrence Farrelly/Mary Keating Co. Cavan
    2. I'm afraid I don't have information directly related to the ancestors you are researching, but my ggggrandfather was Simon Farrelly from Crossbane. He left Ireland in 1849 and lived the rest of his life in Manhattan. I have been able to determine that his father was Conor Farrelly. And I have learned that Conor's father was Patrick and his mother Mary and he had siblings Michael, Rose, Mary, Ann, Ellen, and Bridget. Last summer I tried to find a grave stone for Conor but was not successful. I have not been able to find information about Simon's siblings. Mullagh parish was originally a part of Killinkere parish and there are records starting in 1766 but there is a gap from 1790 - 1842. It was in 1842 that Mullagh came into existence as a parish. The 1821 census showed a household in Crossbane with Nicholas Farrelly, wife Elinor and son Laurence, age 1. Conor was 11 at this point and lived in Corryrourke. I have previously corresponded with Sheila Farley Comerford who is also researching the Farrelly family in this area. We believe we may have some connection because her ancestor Edward Farrelly lived next door to my Simon in 1885. Edward Farrelly's father was Laurence. Sheila gained her information from correspondence with Concepta McGovern at the Cavan Genealogical Research Center in Cavan. Can you tell me where Terrence lived in America?
