Also, I was the author of the geocities farrellys web page that is no longer in existence... but I have a new web site I have been adding to at: http://mytigerstar.com/farrellys/farrelly/farrelly_john_dc.htm Most of the info came from Clare and another cousin who like me is a great-grandchild of William Farrelly, son of John. The web site is a very part-time endeavor, but if anyone is interested in providing more information it might spur me on to update it and make it better. Fran Farrelly.

Noticed the search for a bridget farrelly, Cork. I have a birth certificate for my grandfather whose mother was Catherine Mears nee Farresey and the person present at birth was a Bridget Farresey. We do not know if this was her mother or a sister. The address for Bridget was 4 Harbour Terrace Queenstown No.1 Cork. This is now known as Cobh (Cove). You will note the spelling of the surname is Farresey however after extensive search this name does not seem to exist, so we are assuming it was mis-spelt at the time and it is perhaps Farrelly. If you have any information you may think is useful we would appreciate a reply. Many thanks. Cathie

Surnames: Farrelly/Farley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5dV.2ACEB/61.1 Message Board Post: Charles, I don't know if there is a connection. My g/grandfather born early 1800's in Co. Cavan. The family had a farm at Garfiny, in Drumlane Parish. He had at least 2 sons, Michael (my grandfather) b 6/4/1848 and John b 22/3/1840. John married Ellen Baxter at Kildallen Parish Co Cavan on 22/2/1873. According to 1901 Census there was a John Farrelly living on a farm at Garfiny. He was married to a Julia. We assume that it was the same John Farrelly. There was also a son Michael b abt 1874. We could not find any record on 1911 census and assume that they left and that the farm was amalgamated with my grandfathers farm. My family were known for a time as Farley. They appeared on the 1901 census as Farley, however as Farrelly on the 1911 census. My Uncle Michael eventually inherited the farm. He was married to a Mary Anne her from Co. Cavan. Regards Kevin Farrelly
