Hello List, The information I have gathered from the Internet, other Farr descendants, and the Springfield (MA) Genealogy & Historical Library is as follows: Joseph Farr b. 4/11/1718 in Acton, MA & Dinah Powers b. 11/12/1722 in Littleton, MA had the following children, all born in Acton; Dinah b. 1741 Joseph b 1743 Jasiel b. 1746 JAMES b. 1753 Simon b. 1754 Susannah b. 1755 Salmon b. 1757 Joseph moved to Cummington, Hampshire Co. in 1770 & kept a Tavern in 1771. There was a great deal of buy & selling of land in Cummington by the Farr Family. There is, recorded in the Corbin Collection of the New England Historical & Genealogy Society, a marriage of James Farr of Plantation #5, Cummington, to Susanah Akers in October 19, 1775 at Hadley, Hampshire Co., MA. There was a listing in Cummington Births of Thomas, son of James Farr, baptized Sept. 17, 1780. James & Susanah had a son Thomas b. 1778. There is some evidence that James Farr, married to Susanah Akers, was a captain in the army during the Revolutionary war, possibly in Vermont. I found a James Farr and a Salmon Farr listed in Leicester, Addison Co., Vermont a 1790 census of Addison County. James Farr & Susanah Akers ended up in DeKalb, NY about 1804. My question is, what are my chances that James Farr, married to Susanah Akers, is the son of Joseph Farr of Acton & Cummington, MA.? I will appreciate any advice & assistance on this matter. Jane, As I may have mentioned before, I have considerable info on Joseph's family (Joseph b 11 Apr 1718 in Acton, Middlesex, MA and Diana Powers b 12 Nov 1722 in Littletown, Middlesex, MA - both dying in Cummington, Hampshire, MA) and descendants. However, virtually nothing on James. Joseph's and Dinah's children: Dinah 5 Sep 1742 Joseph 30 Aug 1743 Jacob 30 Apr 1745 Jesial 19 Jan 1747 Simon 24 Apr 1749 James 24 Feb1753 Susannah 28 Aug 1755 Salmon 23 Nov 1757 Benjamin 7 Sep1761 I do have Simon's place of death as New Haven, New Haven, VT and he was married to Mary Bates who was born in Middlebury, Addison, VT. At least one of their four children (Miles) was born in Middlebury, Addison, VT. I also have James' brother Salmon as having a son b 19 May 1787 in Brandon, VT and died 30 Apr 1865 in Brandon.
