Great Uncle Hugh Farr told story of these two brothers(no names mentioned). According to the Farr book, names Samuel and James B. Bradley Farr fit this story. Samuel well documented James disappeared around Elberton Ga. Although recent E-Mails indicate that Jonathan Farr born in Jackson County may be John's son, I can't seem to make the pieces fit accordng to Hugh's story. Hugh has since passed away and the knowledge he had has been losted

I do know of one person I am going to contact and see what her mother's name was before she married a Farr. I guess that you wouldn't know if your Farrs were kin to the Stanfield or St. Clair line. Do you think your aunt might know? Can you contact her about a Frank Farr and if he might have been kin to the above names? It may turn out that he might have just been a friend of one of the above names. Thanks for answering and if I find out anything from the person I know that might possibly be along your line, I'll let you know. Sue

In my Aunt's diary, dated abt 1917, she mentions several times about Uncle Billy Farr and his son, Cousin Alonzo living in Gainesville, TX. She corresponds with them. My Aunt lived in Mannsville, Johnston Co., OK. I found where the Farr's came in 1895 from Southern IL to Cooke, Co, TX. Bringing with them Lou Farr's mother Nancy Cole Travelstead and Billy's father, John Farr. My grandfather, Alfred Stilley came from southern IL, by way of AR and Dexter, Cooke Co., TX. Later settling in Indian territory in what is now Johnston Co., OK. My question is: Was the Farr's related to the Stilleys' and if so what the kinship was? I understand there are Farr's still living in Gainesville, but I have not contacted them. My email is PM5647@aol.com

Bela and Jane had six children that I am aware of Jane Sarah, Joseph Marry, James W. Andalucia, Asa, and Levi. I descend from James W. who married Mary Catherine Anner born 12 Dec 1813. The only child that I can find from James W and Mary Catherine is Henry Ludlow Farr, who was born on Nov 25, 1837. He Married Frances Raymond Hoyt who was born on Oct 10, 1838 in Greene, New York They were married on April 24, 1861 and had seven children. Julius Augustus, Mary, Juliet, Willima, James, Raymond A., and Raymond Henry. I descend from Julius Augustus who married Anastasia Glazebrook. They lived in Somerville, Massachusetts and died there in the 1949 to 1951 time frame. I do not have much if any additional information, and need details or related family information. I do not know for sure who Bela’s father was but suspect it was Joseph Farr Jr. born Aug 30, 1743. I cannot link Bela to Joseph directly though and may not be correct on this. Please help.

Would they have any connection to a Frank Farr or a Stanfield or St. Clair line? I have a picture of a Frank Farr taken on a tractor (most likely in the 1920's or 30's range. It lists him as being around the Haldenville, Ok area, which would be between Gainesville, TX and Ardmore, OK. It came from my Stanfield/St. Clair family line. I know that at least one of my Grandfather Stanfields (brothers) was born in Cooke Co, TX as well as my grandmother who was a St. Clair. She married one of my Stanfield grandfathers when she was still in TX and he lived in Ardmore, TX. Another line I am working on for Farr family is a relationship between the Farr family and the Ricketson family. Haven't checked into this much except that my Ricketson family came from TX to NM and a kin to the Ricketson/Harwell family married a Farr. Will have to check into this more. Any of these names ring a bell or help? I am having a ha! rd time figuring out why my Stanfield group would have a picture of a Frank Farr.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pdV.2ACEB/446.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Tony– I have no direct evidence for the ancestors of Jesse H. Farr. I have included my notes below containing my research plus the speculations of other researchers who have replied to my posts. I would appreciate anything you might have and be willing to share. My grandfather was Jerry Thomas Farr (s/o James William Farr, grandson of William J. Farr, g-grandson of Jesse), so you and I are distant cousins. According to The History of Fayette Co. published by the Fayette Co. Historical Society, Inc. in 1977 (pg. 236), "The Farr family came to Ga. with Gen. Oglethorpe on the 'Good Ship Anne' in 1733. John was one of the settlers and his son Jesse came to Fayette in 1830...". Jesse H. Farr, born about 1804, almost has to be the Jesse Farr to whom the book refers. It would, however, be extraordinary for Jesse's father to have come to Georgia with James Oglethorpe in 1733. More likely it was Jesse's grandfather, or great-grandfather, who would have had to arrive with Oglethorpe. Moreover, no individual with the last name of Farr or any of its variants is included on the list of 114 passengers brought to Georgia on the Ann by Oglethorpe in 1733. Nor is the name, Farr, or any of its variants contained in "A List of the Early Settlers of Georgia," edited by E. Merton Coulter and Albert B. Saye, who examined official documents to develop a list of the first 3,000 or so immigrants to Georgia. In The History of Fayette Co., in a section on the Tyrone community, the author states, "Farr, a family of Scottish descent, came to this area from North Carolina. Some moved to Texas and Oklahoma. Descendent: W. F. Farr." (pg. 676) It is possible that the! first Farr to arrive in Georgia did come directly from England, but at a later date. It seems more likely that the first Farr to immigrate landed in Virginia or the Carolinas and then followed the general migration of settlers into Georgia. Mary Bunn stated, "My G G Grandfather Jesse Farr had brothers John, Jonathan, Jehu, Jordan, Jael(Joel), and Jeptha. My source says Jesse, John,Jonathan and John had families. The others may have but do not have that info. They grew up in Jackson Co. GA. Their father was John Farr. Do not have mothers name. Some say the father was of the Warren Co. GA Farrs but we do not have any proof. Mrs. Jack Farr, Nita, did a book on the desc. of John Hayes Farr. b 27 Nov. 1829, and Mary Amanda Thomas. I have a copy of this for anyone who might be interested in this family. Jesse Farr and wife Betty Nixon moved to Fayette Co. GA when John Hayes Farr was one year old." Posted by: Mary Bunn Date: October 10, 2001 at 10:58:38 In Reply to: Re: Grandfather Martin Farr-in GA by H. M. Schuber, Jr. of 1165 There are many records in Newton Co. which mention a John Farr. John Farr was granted Letters of Administration on the estates of Daniel Farr (8/4/1823) and David Farr (9/15/1823). Whether this John Farr was the father of Jesse H. Farr is not certain. John Farr of Newton Co. was a fortunate drawer in the Georgia Land Lottery of 1827. District 3, Carroll Co., Third Day's Drawing, March 8, pg. 6. Re: Farrs of Georgia Posted by: Andy Eiseman Date: December 05, 1999 at 08:00:41 In Reply to: Farrs of Georgia by Farr Family of 1229 All I have on the Farr family is John Farr (B. 12-5-1771; d. 1-8-1858) married Polly Brooks (b. 4-6-1769; d. 11-4-1819) in 1790. Their daughter Elizabeth Farr (b. 4-3-1795 in Warren County, GA; d. 1882 in Newton County, GA) married Clayton Huff on 10-28-1815 in Warren County, GA. Clayton Huff was my mother's great grandfather. The rest of what I have in that line deals with the Huff family. I have nothing more on the Farr Family or Polly Brooks' Family. Hope someone will turn up with additional details for us both. If these Farr lines are the same your John would probably either be 2 or 3 generations after my John Farr. Good luck. Re: Jonathan Farr-Georgia Author: Brenda Barrett Date: 20 Apr 2002 2:12 AM GMT Classification: Query In Reply to: Re: Jonathan Farr-Georgia by: Herman Schuber Thanks for replying. It looks like we are both looking for the same family information. Jesse Farr was my great great grandfather and his son John Hayes was my great grandfather. No written proof as to the name of Jesse's father but his grandson, Rev. Joseph Farr's papers states that he found positive proof that his name was John, and it is believed that his father was also named John and that he had lived in the Savannah, Georgia area. Date: 2002/04/29 Mon PM 11:55:12 EDT To: "Herman M. Schuber, Jr." <schuberm@bellsouth.net> Subject: Re: Farr, Rush Hi,Again I just read the posts on the "Farr" list. And notice your post. If you need more info on the Farrs Iwill be glad to share what I have. I noticed that Brenda had replied to your post(she is my 2nd cousin) Her mother wrote a book on the Farr family that is inthe Riverdale branch of the Clayton CountyLib.(someone copied it for me and that is what is stamped on it) The only thing everybody seems to agree to is that Jesse's father's name was John. Some think Jesse's parents or grandparents(cant be grandparents the math doesn't work) were John Farr and Polly Brooks. However, according to Mrs Julia Goza's grandfather's bible there was no Jessie born to them. There was a Jeremiah b. 1804. (Jessie could be a nickname) Yet other records have his name as Alex. Who knows? Also, I have some info on Elizabeth Nixon, Jesse's wife. Hope to hear from you soon .

What we know of this James Robinson is, that he was a man of colour, we also know for a fact that he was a loyalist and was given freedom and granted land in 1804 in St. Andre D'Argenteuille Quebec. he was married to a woman by the name of Marie Trottier (possibly aka: Mary Trotter). James died in 1850. Could this be the same James Robinson that you are researching?. Any info that you have we be very gratefully appreciated. Thank You P. Potter

    3. Hi List Subscribers. Starting today (Monday, 6/10) and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens; during this time, please don't post "why am I not getting mail"....you will get your mail when the system comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. If you have trouble reaching other RW servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Freda Gavin tgavin@sheltonbbs.com List Administrator.
