Mother was Nancy Graves, father Samuel Farr. Samuel was born c. 1786 in Chesterfield, NH; died 1864. I wonder if your Luman and my Samuel were related in any way; brothers or cousins? I'm having a tough time finding Samuel's parents also. Luman seems to be such an unusual name; to have 2 Luman Farrs seems even stranger!

Your email intrigued me...I have a Platt line (husb) and Farr line (mine) from SC > GA. Have you checked the 1885 State Census for Hillsborough Co., FL ? He had a son, Joseph, Jr who was born 1777 in Chatham County, NC. Joseph, Jr had 4 sons (per his 1860 will)--Joseph III, who was born about 1804; Ambrose, who was born about 1810 and settled in Haywood County, NC around 1830; Davidson; and Shuford. Except for Ambrose, this group has been hard to trace. There is a Joseph Fair/Farr in the 1820 Haywood census but I have been unable to link him to this group. I believe that Ambrose had a son named Joseph who was killed in the Civil War at Seven Pines but have not had a chance to run this down. There is a Joseph Fair/Pharr in 1850 Carter County, TN who MAY be the Joseph III above but I have discovered NO LINKS to Fairs/Farrs in Iredell County.

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Farr, Wright Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/pdV.2ACEB/691 Message Board Post: I am looking to find the family of my greatgreatgrandmother Sarah A. Farr. She married Loyal Langdon Wright on Jan. 3, 1839. Under Middlebury, Vt. history, Simon Farr and a Sarah Farr were 2 of 12 charter members of the Middlebury Congregational Church (Sept 5, 1789.) It looks like this Sarah was the 2nd wife, the first being Mary Bates. A son Miles was born on 29th of July, 1788 while the family was still in Mass. according to one report. Another states that Simon married Sarah in 1787 in Ferrisburg, Vt Because of the church record I believe the Middlebury report of Miles birth would be correct, being only a year earlier. Miles married Parmelia Ferris on 8 Feb,1810. Their 1st child recorded on Family Search was Mary Ann born in 1820. The family was now settled in New Haven, also in Addison County. Because of the 10 year gap I believe my Sarah A. might have been an older daughter. Making this conclusion more probable is the fact that Loyal and Sarah named their first daughter Electa (for Loyal's mother) Parmelia Wright. (She was born on the Weybridge Cornwall line on Jan. 27, 1843) Electa was my greatgrandmother. Sarah A. Farr Wright died when Electa was about 10 years old and was most probably buried in the Wright Cemetery in Weybridge, Vt. Does anyone have any information or ideas that could help me? For instance, I suspect that the 1820 New Haven, Vt census would show that Miles and Parmelia Farr already had more than the one child Mary Ann.
