I love family history, and have worked on the Porter family for about 30 years. I did look in Eugene Farr's book, for the information. There was a Richard Farr that married a Morgan, if this was what you were searching for. Give me some dates for the marriage, and I will be glad to search the marriage record books for you, for Chickasaw County. Thanks Robert

How do I contact the Methodist Church you spoke of? The Prospect Church no longer exists as such, right? So, your records in the Historical & Genealogical Society are all we have to access? Maybe I should try the land records here in Collin Co to see when he settled here? Again, I surely do appreciate your help and the help others of this line have provided in the past. I feel sure that my Richard is somehow related. Thanks again, and hope to hear from you again soon. You can email me direct at ropycomp@swbell.net . I am in Dallas Co if I can be of any help to you'all.

One of Colonel Williams Great grandsons in law was a Methodist Minister and preached at the Methodist Church south, also known as Prospect Methodist Church at one time. Most of my Farr family was Methodist, and members of that Church. I have a layout of the Cemetery in my possession, but do not know where the old church records would be for the Prospect Church. If I asked enougn questions, I might could locate them. The marriage record information that I gave you the other day, Richard and a man by the name of J. M. White signed the Marriage Bond, ceremony performed by S. M. Cole minister of the Gospel, this was from marriage book 4, page 169. By the way I am a member of the Chickasaw County Historical and Genealogical Society, and will see what other info I can come up with. Thanks Robert

They are buried in the family plot in Cleburne, Johnson Co., TX. Eugene Farr's book is what led me to believe that John Henry might be the one. The Farr Family Reunion in Chickasaw Co Ms in Sept 2003 led me to an elderly lady that I talked to by phone who told me about "cousin Richard" after the War. She also said there were several Morgans in the area. Henry Morgan 1813-bef 1870 Chickasaw Co, MS. and Elizabeth Floyd abt 1818-1880 Chickasaw Co., MS married 6 July 1837 in Newton Co, GA. The came from Oglethorpe Co, GA. Tell me more about yourself and your connections. I need to know something about the churches in the area as Richard's family was active in Texas. Maybe you could give me a way to contact the Churches that existed at that time. Thanks for answering and I hopefully await your reply, Karen

Thanks for replying! Well, I know for sure that my Luman was b in 1805 and died in 1852 in Ripton, VT. He had 6 children from his first marriage and 4 from his second (our line). I have no idea who his parents were. I know the dates for our whole line up to him. If you want all the dates and names etc. let me know. If Luman is a family name then maybe we have more names in common to find a link. My Luman is much earlier than yours so he would be contemporary with Samuel, perhaps as you say brothers or cousins. I have seen Samuel in at least one census in Townsend Vt during my own searches, is that close to the Ripton area? I will keep searching and if I find out more about my Luman's parentage I will let you know and I hope you will do the same! Keep in touch!
