A Bible may contain a date in a family record that is much earlier than the publication date of the Bible. In fact, sometimes the births/deaths/marriages of ancestors of the original owner are recorded, which makes it a real find. In my family there is at least one family Bible that had several items of incorrect family information entered, long after the dates of the events themselves. Only after finding other records, created during the lives of the people involved, was I able to discover that I had been barking up the wrong tree by depending on the Bible record to be accurate.
